Hydrating With Food
Hydration is one key to a healthy diet and to good health. And yet many people do not drink enough water during the day. Why is this bad for you?
In addition to constipation, high blood pressure, the risk of stroke, and the like, when you dehydrate, you get thirsty - and your body will turn to whatever source of water it can find.
So many people hydrate with soda pop. And many people hydrate with food. Yes, that's right, food.
Many foods contain a lot of water. And if you are thirsty, you may find yourself cruising past the refrigerator, looking inside to "see if there is something to eat". In reality, you are just thirsty, but your body will take water anyway it can get it.
If you find yourself refrigerator-surfing, have a glass of water. Better yet, schedule times during the day to get a glass of water and keep it near your desk at all times. Make sure you are getting enough water and chances are, your appetite will diminish.
The body will fight you if you try to starve it of water. And it will send signals to eat as a result.
Make sure you are getting enough water. But don't do something stupid like drink yourself to death through water intoxication.
